When many of us think of Groupon, we usually think of the site where we can go to get good deals on restaurants, massages, or travel packages. However, lately, it seems that Groupon Goods has been popping up in my online searches for great deals on other things.
For example, I’ve been searching for customized storybooks for my kids. Lo-and-behold, Groupon Goods popped up and they have some pretty darn good prices if I say so myself. After searching their goods section, I discovered personalized soft cover story books for only $5.
That means I can get both of my kids a book without leaving my house and get them shipped directly to me for less than $20.00. I really couldn’t have asked for a better deal. Therefore, I wanted to share the deets with you on how to score even greater deals.
To score additional savings using Groupon Goods, I’m going to be using Ebates. I’ve shared with you all my love of Ebates before and if you haven’t signed up with them, do it! Read Shop Online Using Ebates and Get Free Cash Back on how to sign up for Ebates and install the button on your toolbar.
Once you’ve done this, when you arrive at the Groupon Goods search page, the Ebates button will highlight on your toolbar. Click your Ebates button and it will open a ticket as shown below.
After you’ve completed this step, you will see a welcome message on the bottom as shown below to verify that you are now shopping with Ebates. By using Ebates, you will be able to score an additional 6 percent savings. Sometimes they have double-cash back days, so check for that too!
Groupon Goods has a good offering of products. If books aren’t what you’re looking for, here is list of gift shopping categories:
- Adults: Adult coloring book, Perfume, Electronics, Accessories, Shoes, Clothing, Jewelry
- Pets: Houses, Gates, Chew Toys, Clothes, Dog Beds
- Kids: Books, DVDs, Baby Strollers, Bedding, Carseats, Clothing, Toys
- Sports Enthusiasts: Athletic Wear, Hunting Gear, Tennis Shoes, Equipment
- Foodies: Wines, Snacks, Candies
For example, I found an adult coloring book and pencil set for $24.99. I figured this wasn’t a bad deal at all considering one of these books in Walmart alone can cost you around $15.00 or more. With this one you can get four books and get additional cash back using Ebates.
Also, I found a great deal for a Nikon D3000. Considering the price point on this bad boy, I would do a little more research to make sure the vendor is legit. You want to know the return policies, etc before making a large purchase like this.
Finally, I’m on the lookout for nice wedding gifts since I have two weddings within the next year. They had a Chevron bowl set and a rustic arrow wall decor that I thought would be nice gifts for a couple.
As you can see, there is more to Groupon than just travel deals, massages, and such. If you really dig into these categories, you can find different gifts at different price points.
My only word of caution is to make sure you research the vendor that is providing these goods. If you end up making a purchase and things don’t work out well, you can go back into your Groupon account and cancel the purchase.
This is exactly what I ended up doing for the books I mentioned above. After purchasing two of them and going to the site to redeem my purchase, I couldn’t find the two titles which the Groupon deal was for.
Instead of dealing with the hassle and contacting customer service, I simply canceled the order within the hour and got a full refund.
This is the only time I’ve canceled a Groupon though so don’t let this discourage you. I ordered a paint night Groupon for my husband and I last month and everything went fine. We had a great date and we only paid $30.00.
So there you go!
If you’re looking for an easy way to get out of holiday shopping, you might fare better than I did and score a good deal using Groupon Goods. Don’t forget to sign up and use Ebates to get an even better deal. Plus, if you’re a first time user of Ebates, you will get a free $10.00 gift card when you make your first $25.00 purchase.
Have you ever purchased a product from Groupon Goods? What was your experience?
